Make a clean source image
Sign naturally on plain white paper using the ink and background specified by the application. Scan the paper or photograph it straight-on in even light. Keep the complete signature in frame, with a small margin around the strokes. If using a phone photo, avoid shadows, glare, and perspective distortion.
Convert to JPG/JPEG
- Open the PAN card signature resizer in your browser and choose the scan or photo.
- Select Signature mode and choose a portal preset only if it matches the instructions for your current application.
- Crop to the signature and its surrounding margin. Do not cut off pen strokes or stretch the image.
- Export the result as JPEG, then save the downloaded file to your device.
- Check file details to confirm it is a JPEG and is within the current dimensions and file-size limit. Open it to make sure the signature remains legible.
JPG and JPEG refer to the same image format. PNG or WebP can be converted by exporting to JPEG, but simply renaming.png to .jpg does not convert the underlying data and may cause an upload error.
Keep the real signature intact
Compression is for file size, not for changing handwriting. Do not redraw, trace, add strokes, remove parts of the signature, or alter it to resemble another person’s signature. Avoid excessive contrast or sharpening that erases thin ink marks. If it looks faint, make a better scan rather than artificially reconstructing it.
Older guides may quote a 50 KB Protean/NSDL signature or a 60 KB UTIITSL signature. Treat those as legacy limits, not guaranteed current rules. Read the instructions on the live Form 93/94 application. This in-browser PAN card document resizer online processes your file on your device and does not submit it to a PAN portal.
